Minimalist Clothes Rack

Written by:

Turns out, we have so many clothes they ripped the clothes rack built into our closet right out of the wall. The problem, especially, seemed to be our three partitioned hanging cloth thingies, that we’d loaded all our shirts and undies into.

A ha! Another chance for my basic woodworking skills to Shine. I spent an afternoon measuring the space and hanging racks, and then throwing together the most basic, minimalist and unadorned free standing clothes rack that was possible.

It’s far from beautiful, but it does fit our space perfectly and actual hold up the weight of our clothes, so I’m gonna call this a win.

Tulita’s Seasons

Written by:

They say that Canada has four seasons:

  • Almost Winter
  • Winter
  • Still Winter, and
  • Construction

I’ve now spent a year in Tulita and can have a stab at describing the local seasons. Starting from right now, we have:

  • Mud and bugs (Sept-Oct)
  • Freezing but snowless (Nov-Dec)
  • The Darkness, aka Static Shock Season (Jan-Feb)
  • Sunny fields of white (Mar-May)
  • Suddenly hot (Jun-Aug)

I just asked one of the cops how he’d classify the seasons and here’s what he had:

  • People out of town goose hunting
  • Liquor comes to town by boat
  • People out of town caribou hunting
  • Liquor comes to town by ice-road

I’m curious how Faye’d classify Tulita’s seasons too. Maybe she’ll do a post about it?
