
After a month of darkness, the sun rose again on January 6. We were in town for this year’s Sunrise Festival, and I got to do a two-day workshop to make sealskin mitts, which are very warm!

After a month of darkness, the sun rose again on January 6. We were in town for this year’s Sunrise Festival, and I got to do a two-day workshop to make sealskin mitts, which are very warm!


In the fall, my mom came to visit. This year’s birthday adventure was an “Amazing Race”-style challenge.

Hi y’all, long time no update. COVID restrictions lifted in 2022, which means that we took a LOT of vacations out of the North. Australia, Canmore, BC road trip, Iceland, Yellowknife, Uruguay, Panama, and Ottawa. Here are some excerpts of what we got up to while up North:





There was quite a bit of flooding in 2022, so Sam and I packrafted the local Boot Lake hiking trail:


We also did a short road trip through Alaska: from Whitehorse down to Skagway (where we took the White Pass Railway), then by ferry over to Haines, and back through the Yukon with some white-water rafting, past Kluane and back into Alaska to go over the Top of the World Highway. We went through all four Alaska road borders.
