… In an old bus/van clunker with 7 other people. It was hot, it was fast, and it was bumpy! We got air on the steep dives, after quick climbs along the winter road’s aggressive terrain. We looped and drifted, jerked and flopped, bounced and glided for 2 hours. Making it to the Wells in record time, I threw open the door and gulped fresh, cold air as my stomach tried to decide which way was up. Palms sweaty, legs numb, and neck kinked, it’s really too bad the road’s only open for another month.

We went skiing
Written by: Emma
After stealing materials, kidnapping an expert, and sneaking out to a remote location, we are much better at skiing!
Thanks to Jean for the lesson, Evan and I can now glide on Faye and Maciek’s skiis directly from our front door, and along the expansive countryside. I was very glad to be off work long enough to bask in the sun and see wildlife tracks. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, at a balmy -30 degs.

We went to the store
Written by: Emma
I’ve been working long days, so haven’t had the chance to make a proper dinner (will post when I actually do), but I have had a hankering for veggies and hash browns. Luckily these are available at the store, but at a price (see receipt).
Our house is fantastic and roomy, but does need a better inventory than 5 pot lids and 1 unmatched pot. We’ve been without water since last night due to issues with our pipes, which provides the perfect excuse for Evan to avoid washing dishes!
For those who are interested, in the past week, we’ve been eating rice, pasta, spinach from Yellowknife, cottage cheese, eggs, fish sticks, and peanut butter. Just need our hot sauce to ship…
