2022 Update…

Written by:

Hi y’all, long time no update. COVID restrictions lifted in 2022, which means that we took a LOT of vacations out of the North. Australia, Canmore, BC road trip, Iceland, Yellowknife, Uruguay, Panama, and Ottawa. Here are some excerpts of what we got up to while up North:

Sledding
Lost of skiing
Skating on the ice road
SCUBA diving in a hole in the ice
Cameron Falls in the spring… looks very different than in the summer

There was quite a bit of flooding in 2022, so Sam and I packrafted the local Boot Lake hiking trail:

We also paddled all the way to the pingos this summer
Adam and I ran another murder mystery at the greenhouse

We also did a short road trip through Alaska: from Whitehorse down to Skagway (where we took the White Pass Railway), then by ferry over to Haines, and back through the Yukon with some white-water rafting, past Kluane and back into Alaska to go over the Top of the World Highway. We went through all four Alaska road borders.

Inuvik Puzzle Hunt

I finally launched my first Puzzle Hunt! Participants solve puzzles to get a map clue that will bring them to a location with a QR code that will give them their next puzzle.

You need to be in Inuvik to do the full Puzzle Hunt, but if you don’t anticipate making the trip, here are the puzzles so you can try them at home: 12345 (no cheating, Inuvikians).

As promised, here are some of the Christmas crafts I made at the Makerspace this year:

Laser-engraved glassware
Printed mugs
More printed stuff
Photo-engraved wood boxes
Colourful printed coasters and fridge magnets
3D-printed cookie cutters and resulting cookies (with various degrees of success)
Vinyl t-shirts
Caribou antler cribbage board (made at home) with 3D printed pegs
