The past week in Tulita has been sunny with above zero temperatures. They closed the winter road to daytime traffic in order to keep it intact as long as possible. It’s even been warm enough to spot the occasional Australian outside in shorts.

I ramped up my Christmas crafting this past year with increased mitt ornament production, the introduction of my new line of mini-moccasin ornaments, and my first attempts at bear claw necklaces from our bear. I will probably have to scale it back down next year, because all this crafting is quite time consuming and I still need to finish my own full-sized moccasins.
Maciek’s Birthday Dinner

It was Maciek’s birthday last week, so I made pho from scratch, or as close to scratch as possible in Tulita (the broth is grouse-based rather than oxtail-based). I also made summer rolls as an appetizer.
Not to be completely outdone in the cake department, I made a cherry cheesecake, which was delicious.
