Today was the 2nd year anniversary of Maciek’s heart transplant!
News travels fast in a small town. But sometimes small town news is weird. I got this text message earlier this week:
“Some guys walked by and said there is a dead muskox down by the beach!”
Of course I grabbed my camera and ran right down. It turns out it was just a dead bison (a muskox would have been more exciting), probably washed downriver from around Fort Simpson.

Apparently news of fiddle club has spread too, because I also got this text message this week:
“Hello! I’m one of the guys working on the church here in Tulita. One of your coworkers gave me this number and told me you and some friends have a fiddle sesh once a week or something? I’m a fiddler too and I have mine here so if you wouldn’t mind adding one more to the party let me know!”

Remember all that ice from the river breakup? The Mackenzie is free and clear of ice now, but it left huge icebergs up on the shore.

Perfect for climbing all over.
