Deep-Fried Pickle Poppers

Written by:

I brought back some jalapeño peppers from Fort Simpson and had the brilliant idea to make Jalapeño Poppers. After cutting some of the peppers, I accidentally touched my face and then spent the next little while in the shower trying to make the burning stop. Maciek had to complete the rest of the prep work.

I decided that this probably wasn’t the best thing to put through my digestive track, so I revamped the plan and replaced the jalapeño peppers with pickles. It was delicious.

Shocking!

Written by:

Due to the dry winter air, we’ve been having a lot of issues with static shock. We get shocked any time we touch basically anything in the house. I got zapped by the water coming out of the faucet yesterday. The lightswitch at work will zap me from a surprisingly far distance. The static in our house is strong enough to light up fluorescent bulbs when you touch them. It’s starting to feel like we’re rats in some kind of science experiment.

The recommendations to fix this are to humidify our house, touch metal objects more often, or carry around a metal object to touch other metal objects with. Although I don’t think touching metal objects more often is going to work for us – here, I can get zapped twice in a row without even moving.
