Workroom Shelving Solution

Written by:

Faye was running out of patience for my tools being sprawled all over the workroom/storage room/water-heater room/whatever that room is called.

So, I built myself some shelves. I was so proud. I measured everything out perfectly, found scrap wood at the dump that would fit right, cut it exactly to size, built it in place perfectly, built a vertical tool-board on to the back of it… and then realised that it blocked the water-tank door from opening 🙁

So, I cut away a curve exactly the right shape for the door to open, leaving a pointed piece of shelf jutting out in just the right position to stab me next time I’m being careless in that room.

Mission Accomplished.

Minimalist Clothes Rack

Written by:

Turns out, we have so many clothes they ripped the clothes rack built into our closet right out of the wall. The problem, especially, seemed to be our three partitioned hanging cloth thingies, that we’d loaded all our shirts and undies into.

A ha! Another chance for my basic woodworking skills to Shine. I spent an afternoon measuring the space and hanging racks, and then throwing together the most basic, minimalist and unadorned free standing clothes rack that was possible.

It’s far from beautiful, but it does fit our space perfectly and actual hold up the weight of our clothes, so I’m gonna call this a win.

Too many pants

I have too many pants. It’s impossible to find the ones I want to wear without digging through a mountain of fabric.

So, I made a little shelf-thingy for them, out of the giant pile of scrap wood I’ve salvaged from the dump.
