Planter Box

Written by:

Our plants have been growing nicely, thanks to the diligent efforts of the Hamlet staff. But now our little baby plants are big enough to live outside, so Maciek built them a planter box and we brought them home.

A lot of our nicely labelled tags wore off or got lost, so there are a few mystery plants in the mix. We are fairly confident that the box contains, at a minimum, tomatoes, zucchini, peas, kale, swiss chard, and peppers. Potentially also cauliflower, spinach, kohlrabi, beets, onions, and rapini. We’ll see what else comes up.

Ideally we’ll be able to find some plastic sheeting to make a sort of mini-greenhouse for the little guys.

Parallel bars

Written by:

There’s a guy in town who used to be a professional cabinet maker. I gave him a call. I was thinking of making myself parallel bars but didn’t know what wood to use.

He told me about a stand of spruce, out past the airport and half way to the dump. It had been burned by fire. The leaves and branches had all burned off but the trunks, the trunks had been strengthened by the heat. I went out on my bike and harvested some of the fallen boughs.

A little work with a chisel and a sander and I had my bars.

Actually doing an L-sit will take a little longer.
