Inuvik Ski Club

Another winter project: I’m now the vice-president of the ski club! This has been keeping me busy with setting up the registration system, hiring students to man the chalet, and promoting the club.

Inuvik has a nice little ski trail network:

The club hasn’t been running since 2018, so it’s great to have it going again. Here’s the obligatory Inuvik Drum coverage:

2021 Sunrise

Written by:

On January 6th, the sun rose in Inuvik for the first time in a month. It was only up for 45 minutes, and “up” is a pretty generous term to describe it peaking its head briefly above the horizon before disappearing again. Fortunately, day length has increased quickly since then, and it wasn’t long before we could see the entire sun-ball during the day. As of today, the sun is getting a whole 5° of altitude at its meridian.

Every year, the town has a Sunrise Festival to welcome back the sun. This year was scaled down, but still had a fireworks show.
