Canadian Arctic Aviation Tour 2017

There was an air show in Tulita today. If you’re thinking that Tulita is an odd venue for an air show, you would be correct, but there’s a group that’s planning to do air shows in all of Canada’s Northern communities this summer. So some planes came through town, did some fancy Loop-the-Loops for a bit, then waved goodbye and flew off.

I didn’t bring my camera, but I stole this photo from Amy.

Strange Text Messages

News travels fast in a small town. But sometimes small town news is weird. I got this text message earlier this week:

“Some guys walked by and said there is a dead muskox down by the beach!”

Of course I grabbed my camera and ran right down. It turns out it was just a dead bison (a muskox would have been more exciting), probably washed downriver from around Fort Simpson.

Apparently news of fiddle club has spread too, because I also got this text message this week:

“Hello! I’m one of the guys working on the church here in Tulita. One of your coworkers gave me this number and told me you and some friends have a fiddle sesh once a week or something? I’m a fiddler too and I have mine here so if you wouldn’t mind adding one more to the party let me know!”
