Extreme Cold Warning in effect for: Inuvik Region
A prolonged period of very cold wind chills is expected. The coldest wind chill values will be between minus 50 and minus 55.
Wind chill values near minus 50 are occurring tonight. These extreme cold conditions are expected to continue Wednesday and Thursday.
Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

We are now cut off by road from Southern Canada until the rivers are frozen enough for the Ice Crossings to open (on average a month from now). For the next month, we are a fly-in community (just like Tulita!). Grocery store prices will go up during this time.
