They say that Canada has four seasons:
- Almost Winter
- Winter
- Still Winter, and
- Construction
I’ve now spent a year in Tulita and can have a stab at describing the local seasons. Starting from right now, we have:
- Mud and bugs (Sept-Oct)
- Freezing but snowless (Nov-Dec)
- The Darkness, aka Static Shock Season (Jan-Feb)
- Sunny fields of white (Mar-May)
- Suddenly hot (Jun-Aug)
I just asked one of the cops how he’d classify the seasons and here’s what he had:
- People out of town goose hunting
- Liquor comes to town by boat
- People out of town caribou hunting
- Liquor comes to town by ice-road
I’m curious how Faye’d classify Tulita’s seasons too. Maybe she’ll do a post about it?
